Shortly after the elections of Delhi Municipal Corporation on April 23, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) can bring a new housing scheme of 12,000 flats. Most of these flats are in Rohini, Dwarka, Narela, Vasant Kunj and Jassaula. 10 thousand flat plans are lying vacant while 2000 other are flat. The urban bodies have contacted 10 banks for the sale of the applications and the transactions related to the scheme.
A senior official said, "Earlier we had included 8 banks in it and recently two other banks were added to it - ICICI Bank and Canara Bank. There are eight other banks - Axis Bank, Yes Bank, IDBI, Bank of Baroda, Central Bank, SBI, Kotak Mahindra and HDFC. The scheme was planned to be launched in February but the work of constructing some small basic works such as contact roads and laying of street lights near some flats is still going on.
The official said, 'Our engineering department is completing the work, wherever needed, other departments such as Public Works Department are also being taken together. We should be able to launch this scheme immediately after the MCD elections. ' He said that the DDA wants the real buyer this time only.
